Aldi Delivery Guide aldihomedelivery.co.uk

Does Aldi deliver?

No. Aldi does not bring groceries to your home anywhere in the UK, and has not done since August 2024. You can still get an Aldi shop delivered though, by paying someone local to go and fetch it, and this page shows you how.

1,087 shops across England, Scotland and Wales.

The short answer

Aldi is a walk in shop, and that is the whole of it

There is no Aldi app to order from, no delivery slots, and no click and collect. Aldi ran delivery for about four years and then closed every part of it, and nothing has come along since.

Which leaves a much better question than whether Aldi delivers: who is going to fetch your shopping, and how quickly can they do it. There are more answers to that than most people expect.

Getting your shopping home, one step at a time

The usual route is to pay someone local to do the shop and drop it round. It works like this.

A shopping list with a plus button

Say what you need

Put up your shopping list, say which Aldi, and add anything you are fussy about. It takes about a minute.

Three people offering to help, with a note saying three offers in

People offer to do it

Local people send you a price. You can read their reviews and ask them anything before you say yes.

A shopping basket and a shelf of tins

They do the shop

Whoever you pick goes to the shop, buys your list, and messages you if something is not on the shelf.

A house with bags on the doorstep

It arrives at your door

Bags handed over. Your money is only released once the shopping has actually turned up.

Where to find someone

A few good options, depending on what you need and where you live.

Start here

Taskerama

A friendly UK site where you put up the shop you want doing and local people offer to go and do it. The whole cost is on screen before you agree to anything, which makes it easy to say yes.

  • The full price is there from the start. Nothing gets added at the end.
  • Your money is held safely and only released once your shopping has arrived.
  • If anything goes wrong, money comes back to your card rather than as credit.
  • Change your mind and there is nothing to pay.
  • You can message anyone who offers before you pick.

Put up a shopping run

Other ways

Airtasker and TaskRabbit

Big names with plenty of people signed up in the cities. Fees come in later on, so it is worth reading the total twice.

Ask a neighbour properly

The cheapest answer of all, and people are usually pleased to be asked. Local Facebook and Nextdoor groups are full of these.

Royal Voluntary Service or Age UK

Free volunteer shopping for older and housebound people in lots of areas. Well worth asking about early.

A supermarket that does deliver

For a big weekly shop, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Iceland all bring it round. You give up the Aldi prices, but the van comes to you.

Why it went

Four services closed, one after another

WhenWhat closed
January 2022The tie-up with Deliveroo ended and around 130 shops came off the app, as people went back to shopping in person after the pandemic.
January 2023Specialbuys stopped being delivered, so the middle aisle became something you visit rather than order.
Autumn 2023Wine and spirits delivery was dropped, which closed the last way to have a case sent out.
18 August 2024Click and Collect closed after four years and 174 shops.

Reported in the grocery trade press between January 2022 and August 2024. Aldi has not announced anything to take their place.

Questions people ask

Does Aldi deliver groceries in the UK?

No. Aldi has no home delivery service anywhere in the United Kingdom. The last part of it, click and collect, closed on 18 August 2024.

You can still get an Aldi shop delivered by asking someone local to go and fetch it for you, which is what most people now do.

Can I order from Aldi online?

Not for a grocery shop. Aldi's website is there to show you what is in the shops and what is coming up in the middle aisle, but there is no basket to fill and no delivery slot to book.

Who does Aldi use for delivery?

Nobody, in the UK. Aldi worked with Deliveroo between 2020 and January 2022, and that was the only delivery partner it ever had here.

In America things are different, where Aldi does deliver through Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats. Those services do not cover British shops.

How much does it cost to have an Aldi shop delivered?

It depends who you ask and how big the shop is. Paying someone local to fetch a normal weekly shop usually lands somewhere between ten and twenty pounds on top of the shopping itself, and less for a small top up.

Always agree the price before anyone sets off.

How far will someone travel to bring my shopping?

Most people helping out are happy within a few miles. Every shop page on this site shows the towns and villages around it and how far each one is, so you can see at a glance how close you really are.

Is there Aldi delivery for older or housebound people?

Yes, and often at no cost. The Royal Voluntary Service and Age UK both run volunteer shopping in many areas, and lots of councils do too.

It is worth asking early, because these schemes match you with a regular volunteer rather than working on demand.
