Aldi delivers in America, so why not here?
If you have read that Aldi delivers, you were probably reading something American. It is true over there and it is not true here.
Two Aldis, run separately
Aldi in the United States works with Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats, so an American shopper really can have Aldi groceries brought round in an hour.
The British business made a different call. It tried delivery with Deliveroo, tried click and collect, and closed both.
Why Aldi here says no
The short version is that the prices are the whole point. Picking and packing somebody else's shopping costs real money, and it has to come from somewhere. Aldi decided it would rather keep the shelf price down than add a service that puts it up.
You can disagree with that and still see the logic. The good news is that the gap gets filled perfectly well by people who are already going to the shop anyway.

A friendly UK site where you put up the shop you want doing and local people offer to go and do it. The whole cost is on screen before you agree to anything, which makes it easy to say yes.
- The full price is there from the start. Nothing gets added at the end.
- Your money is held safely and only released once your shopping has arrived.
- If anything goes wrong, money comes back to your card rather than as credit.
- Change your mind and there is nothing to pay.
- You can message anyone who offers before you pick.
Other ways
Ask a neighbour properly
The cheapest answer of all, and people are usually pleased to be asked. Local Facebook and Nextdoor groups are full of these.
Royal Voluntary Service or Age UK
Free volunteer shopping for older and housebound people in lots of areas. Well worth asking about early.
A supermarket that does deliver
For a big weekly shop, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Iceland all bring it round. You give up the Aldi prices, but the van comes to you.
